Using International Keyboard Layouts with Gnome
You can configure multiple keyboard layouts and switch back and
forth between them. Here is how to set up your account to do this,
assuming you are using our standard Gnome environment:
You should now have a label in the top panel that shows the current keyboard. Click on it to cycle through the available choices.
- Under the Applications menu, select Preferences and then Keyboard.
- Choose the Layouts tab. In the Available layouts column, choose the layout you want to be able to use. Click the Add button to move it into the Selected Layouts column.
- Close the dialog.
- Right-click on the blank part of the panel at the top of the screen. Select Add to panel from the menu that appears.
- In the window that appears, scroll down to Keyboard Indicator and click on it.
