MATH 6340 - Commutative Algebra with Applications in Algebraic Geometry Fall 2013

Instructor: Irena Peeva

This course is an introduction to commutative algebra. We will cover basic topics, such as primary decomposition, localization, and dimension theory. We will discuss the properties of affine and projective varieties, and their maps. Time permitting, we will cover sheaves and Spec (Hartshorne, Chapter II, Sections 1 and 2).

Required background: MATH 6310
