Professors Ilyashenko and Strichartz named 2017 AMS Fellows

Professors Yulij Ilyashenko (right) and Robert Strichartz (left) have been named 2017 Fellows of the American Mathematical Society (AMS).

Ilyashenko was invited to join this year’s class of AMS Fellows for contributions to dynamical systems and his leadership role in the establishment of the math in Moscow program. Strichartz, for contributions to analysis and his role directing undergraduate research for over 25 years.

The Department of Mathematics would like to congratulate them both on this honor. Founded in 1888 to further mathematical research and scholarship, the 30,000-member AMS fulfills its mission through programs and services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical education, and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and everyday life.
