Simplicial maps from partial orders

Tuesday, February 5, 2019 - 2:55pm

I will introduce a class of simplicial maps, called division maps, associated with stellar subdivisions of simplicial complexes. I will give estimates on complexity of certain simplicial functions using division maps. This will be done by solving purely combinatorial problems concerning partial orders. I will end with remarks on possible further applications of division maps. This material is motivated by and contributes to a joint work with Panagiotopoulos on representing simplexes as projective Fraisse limits.
