This is joint work with Ruth Charney. Right-angled Artin groups (RAAG's) interpolate between free groups and free abelian groups: they are described by giving a set of generators, some of which commute. RAAG's are conveniently described by drawing a graph whose vertices are the generators of the RAAG, with an edge between two generators if and only if they commute. We study finiteness properties of the group of outer automorphisms of a RAAG, particularly in the the case where the graph has no triangles.
