I'll present a construction of a contractible space on which the pure outer automorphism group of a 2-dimensional right-angled Artin group acts propertly. (This space is a proper subspace of the outer space for such groups defined by Charney, Crisp, and Vogtmann.) It shares many of the properties of the outer space for free groups, including the contractibility of fixed point sets of finite subgroups, a result which I'll present.
