MATH 662: Riemannian Geometry (Spring 2005)

Instructor: Brendan Owens

Meeting Time & Room

This course offers an introduction to Riemannian geometry. We will begin with basic material on Riemannian metrics, geodesics, the Levi-Civita connection, Riemann curvature tensor, first and second variation formulas, Jacobi fields, and Riemannian submanifolds.

The goal for the rest of the course will be to provide some background for the study of Perelman's recent work, and to give an introduction to Ricci flow on 3-manifolds.
