Honors Introduction to Analysis
General description:
Math 413 provides a rigorous introduction to analysis. Emphasis will be placed upon understanding and performing mathematical proofs.

- Homework and Examinations:
- The weekly homework assignments are due in class on Tuesdays, covering the previous week's material. A subset of the problems will be graded and returned to you. No late homework will be accepted. It is OK to work on the problem sets in cooperation with others, but you must write up
the solutions by yourself.
You are strongly urged to read the assigned section before the class when it will be discussed.
- In addition to the weekly homework assignments, there will be two Prelim exams and a final exam . The tentative schedule for the exams is:
- Prelim 1: Tuesday, October 4 (evening).
- Prelim 2: Thursday, November 17 (evening).
- Final: Thursday, December 8 (7:00 pm)
- Makeup Exams No makeup exams are anticipated. Students with special needs can be accommodated by contacting me.
- Grading:
Prelims count 20% each, the final 30%, and the homework 30%.
- Attendance and absences : You are responsible for the material covered in class, whether
you attend or not. You are also responsible for the announcements made during class; they may include changes in
the syllabus.
