Word growth of groups is an easily defined invariant of groups made popular by the famous result of Gromov on the polynomial case. Here, I will focus on the question of intermediate growth: try to obtain good estimates, achieve not to have good estimates! I will also present construction of groups of non uniform growth and make a connection with intermediate growth. If time allows, I will discuss amenability of such groups.
