  • Textbook: Steven H. Weintraub: Differential Forms, A Complement to Vector Calculus, Academic Press 1997.
  • Supplementary text: Lecture notes by Reyer Sjamaar, available from his web page under link "lecture notes".

  • Topics to be covered: First five chapters of Weintraub's book. Time permitting, some additional topics from Ch.6 and/or Sjamaar's notes.
  • Reading assignement: Always read the next section of the book before it comes up in class. This way you will follow the lectures much better!
  • For every topic, find and read the equivalent in Sjamaar's notes. Note that the order is somewhat different.

  • Homework: will be due in class every Wednesday, except in exam weeks.
  • The list of homework problems can be found here.

  • Exams: There will be two in class prelims, on Wednesday, October 3 and on Wednesday, November 7, and a final exam.
  • A list of practice problems will be available here about one week prior to each exam. Here are Prelim I, Prelim II, and the Final Exam.

  • Grading: Homework 20%, prelims 20% each, final exam 40%.
