Abstract: The Rhodes semilattice of a group is a fundamental tool used in the complexity theory of finite semigroups. In joint work with Thomas Zaslavsky, we reinterpret the Rhodes semilattice into the language of gain graphs. A gain graph is a graph with invertibly labeled edges. This reinterpretation naturally suggests several extensions of the Rhodes semilattice. I will discuss both a graphical extension and various matroidal extensions.
