Abstract: The order type of a point configuration $P$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ is a collection of the orientations of $(d+1)$-tuples in $P$. Xavier Goaoc (in personal communication) asked how many order types with exactly two convex layers there are in the plane. I will outline the background of the problem, and what makes the problem challenging and interesting.
