Abstract: Pipe dreams and bumpless pipe dreams are similar but distinct combinatorial objects which can each be used to compute Schubert polynomials. Recently, Gao and Huang gave a bijection between them, combinatorially proving the equivalence of the two formulas for Schubert polynomials. This talk will discuss hybrid pipe dreams, a new tool for computing Schubert polynomials which generalize both pipe dreams and bumpless pipe dreams. Hybrid pipe dreams provide a new bijective proof of the equivalence of formulas for Schubert polynomials coming from pipe dreams and bumpless pipe dreams. This work is joint with Allen Knutson.
