Math 622 — Applied Functional Analysis

This is a first-year graduate course in Functional analysis with a stress to applications. Content of the course:

  • Metric spaces; fixed point theorems.
  • Normed vector spases and linear operators.
  • Spectral theory of compact operators.
  • Hilbert spaces and linear operators.
  • Spectral theory of self-adjoint operators.
  • Applications.

The course will be based on A. Friedman's book "Foundations of Modern Analysis".
