MATH 7120: Analysis Seminar: Multiple Time Scale Dynamical Systems (spring 2009)

Instructor: John Guckenheimer

Dynamical systems theory describes generic properties of vector fields and bifurcations — how the dynamics change with varying parameters. In systems with multiple time scales, there are extreme distortions of the dynamics and the bifurcations that take place that require further analysis. This course will survey work on these singular perturbation problems, emphasizing a geometric perspective.
