Staff Support

Joy Jones can assist you if you have difficulty operating any of the machines. If you need her to do some copying for you, 24 hours notice is required. Exams have first priority.

Copyroom and Copy Machines

Location: 325 Malott Hall; Hours: weekdays, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

The Mathematics Department copyroom contains two copy machines, a Xerox Document Centre 490ST and a Sharp AR-M350N Digital Imager. Both machines are digital copiers that scan originals, so they only feed through once. (Less jamming!) In addition to the usual collating and stapling capabilities, both machines are networked, so you can print to them from your office computer or scan documents and send them by email as PDF files. The Sharp needs a VendaCard to operate.

Another Sharp AR-M350N Digital Imager is available in the Mathematics Library. It has the same capabilities as the one in the copyroom and also needs a VendaCard to operate.

VendaCards

Joy Jones can supply you with your own VendaCard to operate the two Sharp copiers. Faculty and staff are allowed unlimited free copies. Graduate students are allowed 200 copies per semester free of charge for research purposes. Additional copies may be purchased at 5 cents per copy. Joy can also loan you a VendaCard for course copying when the Xerox machine is in use.

After Hours Access

Who Has Access: The copyroom door is fitted with an electronic card reader, which Brenda Smith programs to allow entry to a select group of people. After hours access is granted to Mathematics Department faculty, teaching visitors and TA instructors (graduate students who are teaching their own lectures, such as MATH 1105, MATH 1110, or MATH 1120).

How to Use Your ID Card to Enter the Copyroom: The copyroom door will open if an authorized person inserts his/her Cornell ID card into the slot. The proper orientation of your ID card is with the photo side towards you, rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise so your photo is towards the top of the card. Insert the card into the slot. If a green light comes on, you have a few seconds to turn the door knob and enter. If a red light comes on maybe the card reader couldn't read your card. Try again. If it still doesn't work, you will need to see Brenda Smith.
