MATH 612: Complex Analysis (Spring 2006)

Prerequisite: MATH 611 or consent of instructor.

Text:Complex Analysis by Stein & Shakarchi, plus lecture notes.

This course will cover the standard theorems of complex variable theory, including the Riemann mapping theorem, little Picard theorem, and the theory of Riemann surfaces. We will cover this material rapidly, as it is assured that students have seen some of it before.

Then we will do an introduction to distribution theory, Fourier analysis (including the Paley-Wiener theorem), and applications to linear PDEs.

Students will be expected to do most of the lecturing.
