The Cornell AWM Chapter Emerging Mathematicians Travel Grant is a grant designed to support students who are starting their career in Mathematics, wish to grow and challenge themselves, and seek to build/increase their professional network. This grant is awarded twice a year. There are two application deadlines, one on December 1st (to attend a conference between January 1st and August 31st of the following year), and one on May 1st (to attend a conference between June 1st and December 31st). Retroactive applications will not be considered.
An approved application can fund a student for up to $500. Any remaining funds can be used to partially fund another student later in the academic year. Candidates must be current graduate students in the Department of Mathematics in good academic standing who haven’t yet taken their A-exam. Preference will be given to graduate students of any gender identity historically minoritized in mathematics and to students of all genders active in our AWM chapter.
Preference will be given to students for whom the travel grant can cover all conference attendance expenses.
