Slam Bidding

A slam is a contract at the 6-level or higher. In particular:

A small slam is a contract at the 6-level
Bidding and making a small slam is worth 500 bonus points.
A grand slam is a contract at the 7-level.
Bidding and making a grand slam is worth 1000 bonus points.

Note that making a slam involves losing at most one trick! These contracts normally require an extraordinary number of points:

Small Slam (6, 6, 6, 6, 6NT):     33 points
Grand Slam (7, 7, 7, 7, 7NT):     37 points

However, it is often possible to make slam with fewer than the requisite number of points if the two hands in question have good distribution.
