About the Course

Multivariable Calculus is the theory of differentiation and integration of functions of more than one variable. In this course we will examine some of the basic concepts in multivariable calculus like line and surface integrals as well as the classical theorems of Green, Stokes and Gauss and its applications.

Book

The course will be based on the book "Vector Calculus" by Jerrold Marsden and Anthony Tromba.

Exams

The first preliminary exam will take place on Thursday February 19th at 7:30 pm at WRNB 25. The second preliminary exam will take place on Tuesday March 24th at 7:30 pm. It will take place in Malott 251 for lecture 1 and in Malott 253 for lecture 2. The final exam will take place on Wednesday May 13th from 2–4:30pm at Malott 228.

Homework

There will be a weekly homework to be handed in every Friday during lecture time. The homework with the lower score will be dropped before computing your final grade. You can check the homework for this week by clicking the appropriate link on the left or, if you are still reading this, you can just click here.

Grades

Final grades will be calculated either by using the formula:

20% Homework + 20% First Prelim + 20% Second Prelim + 40% Final Exam

or the formula:

20% Homework + 20% Best Prelim + 60% Final Exam.

But don't worry, you don't have to choose. I will calculate both grades at the end and assign you the better one. Letter grades will be curved.
