We shall study the basic theory of linear PDE. The basic formulations require Sobolev spaces, so we start with them. (No previous knowledge assumed.) Then existence and regularity for second order elliptic equations, maximum principles and eigenvalues. Finally, existence and regularity for parabolic and hyperbolic equations and their formulation in semigroup theory.

The book is Partial Differential Equations by L.C. Evans, and the material corresponds to Part II, Theory for Linear PDE.
