Professor Michael Stillman’s teaching talents were recognized in a recent Business Insider article. Rate My Professor has included Cornell in its list of the universities with top professors; the only Ivy to appear on the list.
Irena Peeva

Professor Irena Peeva has been named a 2014 Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (AMS). Professor Peeva was invited to join this year’s class of AMS Fellows “For contributions to commutative algebra and its applications.” The Department of Mathematics would like to congratulate her on this honor.

Lionel Levine and Katherine E. Stange (University of Colorado, Boulder) received the Halmos-Ford award from the Mathematical Association of America for their paper "How to Make the Most of a Shared Meal: Plan the Last Bite First."

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and Cornell University are pleased to announce that Megumi Harada, McMaster University, Canada, will receive the 2013-2014 Ruth I. Michler Prize.
