Normal Derivatives and Polynomials on the Sierpinski Gasket

Created by Nitsan Ben-Gal, University of Michigan

Introduction

This web page encompasses the work I did during the 2003 Cornell University Mathematics REU under Professor Robert Strichartz. My group worked on the theory of differential equations across the familiar Sierpinski Gasket (also known as the Sierpinski Triangle). My particular efforts focused mainly in two areas, completing the family of "polynomials" on gaskets with boundary point singularities, and normal derivatives on eigenfunctions across the Gasket, especially their relation to the heat kernel on the boundary. Since these areas are quite separate, my website is split into two separate sections. I hope you enjoy your explorations.
