Prerequisites

Three years of high school mathematics (including trigonometry and logarithms) or a precalculus course (such as MATH 1101).

Textbook

We will be using Thomas' Calculus: Early Transcendentals, Single Variable (13th Edition). You can find the textbook online (be careful that you get the 13th edition) or at the Cornell store. There will also be a copy on reserve in the Math Library.

Homework and quizzes

There will be a total of 12 homework assignments throughout the summer session. Your lowest two homework grades will be dropped. These will be due each week in class on Mondays and Thursdays. You are encouraged to form study groups to work on homework jointly, and to attend office hours or tutoring for additional help. There will also be weekly quizzes on Fridays. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped. Neither late homework nor quiz make-ups are allowed. Please make sure that you bring your homework with you to class. If you are ill and cannot come to class, you can take pictures of your homework and send them to your instructor. If you have some special extenuating circumstance, please email your instructor for advice.

Exams

There will be one midterm and a final exam. The schedule is on the Exams page.

No books or calculators or notes will be allowed in the exams.

If you require special accommodation on exams, such as extended time or quiet time, you must obtain a Faculty Notification Letter from Student Disability Services and contact your instructor a week before the exam to make the necessary arrangements.
