Kristen's Section

Class meets 8:30-9:45am, Monday-Friday in Malott 224.

Each student will be responsible for presenting one summary during the semester. Summaries should include only one or two of the most important ideas from the last class. Sometimes the easiest way to convey this will be through an example, sometimes it may be through a definition and a theorem. One of the goals of this activity is to practice the skill of deciding what is most important, so really try to just choose the one or two things that YOU think were most important. This is worth 20 % of your class participation grade.

Good class participation may include asking questions, answering questions, and working with others during group work. It also includes being present in class. The class decided that we should usually raise our hands when we want to talk, and that over-participation or off-topic discussion is not good participation. This will be worth 20% of your class participation grade.

The other 60% of your class participation grade is based upon the completion of take-home class activities. These assignments include the related rates and optimization group work, the reading assignment on estimating distance travelled, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus exploration, the summary of important ideas of calculus, and the practice final exam.

My office hours will be Wednesday and Friday, 12-1pm in the Math Support Center, or by appointment.
