My mathematical research interests are primarily in geometric topology. Currently I like thinking about convex projective structures on manifolds and orbifolds.
Several years ago I worked with Bill Thurston on a project building surfaces out of paper and craft foam. To see some of our creations, check out the surface gallery. This project led to my involvement with the Bridges: Mathematics, Art, Music, Architecture, and Culture organization. In addition to celebrating the connections between mathematics and the arts, it also is a great conference for those interested in creative ways to illustrate and share mathematics with their students, and the general public.
