Thus talk will give an introduction to Thompson's groups following the presentation from Cannon-Floyd-Parry. The talk will cover the standard models of $F$, as well as its infinite and finite presentations of $F$. We will also show that any proper quotient of $F$ is abelian and that the commutator subgroup of $F$ is simple.
