We discuss the theme of finding dichotomies between tame and wild classes structures. Typically, these are classes of infinite structures in model theory and of finite structures in combinatorics. We will describe some connections between these two approaches, and in particular the implications for finite structures of some recent model-theoretic results. Joint work with Chris Laskowski.
